The quick and easy guidance from the pros at the Cleveland Clinic:

  • Sleep bag should fit nice and snug at the top, ensuring the fabric can't ride up over the face
  • Enough room through the hips and feet so babies can kick and move comfortably, with full leg extension

Why we made 'The Champ'

The Champ is our premium adjustable, ultra-plush bamboo sleep bag made to grow with your little one - from 2 to 24 months. Babies change in a blink (almost as fast as bamboo!), so instead of buying new sizes, just adjust the fit: snaps under the arms for a snug, safe top and length snaps at the back for cozy, kick-friendly room below.

Named after Lucas’s great-granddad - the original Champ, adored by everyone who knew him - this sleep bag is soft, sturdy, and made to be loved… then lovingly handed down. One bag, many milestones.

TOG Guide

Hot or cold swings disrupt sleep - especially for babies, who are more sensitive to temperature changes.
Bamboo fabrics help regulate body temp: they’re breathable, moisture-wicking, and naturally thermo-balancing to keep little ones comfy across seasons.

TOG (“thermal overall grade”) measures how warm a piece of sleepwear keeps your baby- the higher the TOG, the warmer the garment.
We currently offer 1.0 TOG because it’s the most versatile sweet spot: comfortably lightweight for warmer months, yet easy to layer on cooler nights, ideal for typical nursery temps (about 20–22°C / 68–72°F).

In short, 1.0 TOG gives year-round flexibility without over- or under-heating - exactly why it’s our launching point at Lucas Play. It's important to use your best judgement to ensure your baby is comfortable and avoid overheating, and if you're unsure, please consult your paediatrician.
